Bespoke Training and Assessment Services

Whether you are a Self-Directed Support (SDS) service user receiving Direct Payments to arrange and pay for your own care and support services, or a Carer supporting a friend or family member at home, PhysiCare can help with any issues around manual handling i.e. the moving and handling of a person (adult or child) or inanimate object; lifting; repetitive tasks and awkward postures.

All PhysiCare services are provided by our own specialist Chartered Physiotherapists. With prices ranging between £70 and £700, we have something to suit every budget and circumstance.

Note: If you can have your social worker, health professional or other agency complete the referral, this will avoid the need for an initial two persons visit by PhysiCare and therefore avoid additional costs.

INFORMAL Expert One-to-One/Coaching Sessions – suitable for either unpaid or paid carers, these are particularly useful for top up training, or difficulty with a task/manoeuvre.

FORMAL Moving and Handling Workshops - covering all statutory training requirements, in accordance with current legislation, guidance and best practice. All our courses are designed to minimise the risk of creating or aggravating musculoskeletal injuries caused by poor posture, repetitive tasks or bad lifting practices and help reduce the risk of litigation as a result of injuries sustained at or due to work. Attendees will be trained in a variety of handling techniques/manoeuvres and the correct use of moving and handling equipment e.g. hoists, slings, glide sheets etc. They will also receive a comprehensive handout and certificate of attendance. Refresher training can be organised for subsequent years.

FORMAL Client Handling Risk Assessments – to assess the client (Adult or Child) moving and handling activities. You will be provided with a full report of the assessment findings and any relevant recommendations. Findings will be discussed and advice given to those present on the day of assessment. The report will also include detailed descriptions of any recommend manoeuvres/handling techniques and should any equipment be necessary, then we will also provide detailed information regarding suppliers, prices etc.

FORMAL Combo package for SDS service users - This service combines a FORMAL Client Handling Risk Assessment of the disabled person in their home, followed by FORMAL tailored Moving and Handling Workshop for up to four of his/her carers within the home (5 carers would be possible), or if preferred training can be delivered at one of PhysiCare’s training venues.
